Tash Wright, Skipper
Tash, 35 is the principal skipper of Sea Eagle of Shian II. She was responsible for project managing the initial refit of the yacht for the current owner before skippering her from the Clyde in Scotland to Sydney, Australia. Her sailing career is long and varied and started on the West coast of Scotland where she spent her childhood helping sail her family 40ft wooden gaffer. She continued to sail through school and university qualifying as a Yachtmaster ten years ago.
Tash has spent time on other Oysters, most notably as first mate on a 66 where she sailed it between the Mediterranean and the Caribbean for the respective charter seasons. Her knowledge and experience on the West coast of Scotland was expanded during three seasons spent as first mate on an Oyster 80 which also included participation in the Tall Ships race to Canada and USA. Her high latitude experience includes two trips to arctic Greenland and Canada as first mate on combined sailing and mountaineering expeditions and as watch leader on Skip Novak's Pelagic as part of an expedition to South Georgia and Elephant Island, Antartica. The expedition which included sailing, skiiing, climbing and diving disciplines saw the team round the Horn, cross the Drake Passage and the southern ocean.
In total Tash has three made transatlantic crossings, often in connection with her time spent chartering in the Med and the Caribbean where she has experience as varied as sail training with young children to corporate clients.
